Dr. Warren Moretz, DVM

Dr. Warren Moretz (Dr. Mo, Uncle Warren) opened Village Animal Hospital in May 2000. He grew up in Boone, North Carolina on a small dairy and beef farm and learned the love and respect of animals at a young age. He can tell great stories of the many animals he grew up with in those mountains.
He attended Appalachian State University as an undergraduate and majored in biology and minored in chemistry and education. Next came The University of Georgia where he graduated magma cum laude in 1977. His first job took him to Tennessee and he then returned to Boone to practice first both small and large animal, then in 1995 focused his attention on small animal medicine and surgery.
He lives in Mooresville with his wife Greta and black lab Eli and orange tabby cat Homer. They have three grown children and have been blessed with 2 grand daughters and 2 grand dogs. While not at work he is usually thinking of work and patients. Dr. Moretz enjoys gardening and the outdoors. He loves shag dancing (the official dance of South Carolina) and music, especially Motown, rhythm and blues and bluegrass. Trips to the mountains and the beach and to the buffet line are also enjoyed, it has been said that he loves talking so much that his staff has to pull him out of an exam room.
The next phase of interest is doing some missionary trips to underdeveloped nations with Greta who is a nurse. Dr. Moretz loves his job and can't spell the word retirement.

Dr. Keith Tillman, DVM

Dr. Tillman has relocated to Mooresville from the Washington D.C. area to join our team at Village Animal Hospital in July of 2009. He was drawn to veterinary medicine after graduating from the University of West Florida with a degree in Systems Science and having a great career in software development. Shortly after he and his wife, Deb, were married their Australian Shepherd, Emerson, was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and given a poor prognosis. Dr. Tillman was so deeply moved by his experiences with the doctors and nurses that took care of Emerson and the additional 6 months that veterinary medicine gave his family with their beloved pet, that some years later he took the plunge and applied to veterinary school.
After graduating from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine (Go Bulldogs!), he stayed at the school to complete an internship focusing on internal medicine, surgery, and critical care before joining Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington D.C. He then practiced there for one year before deciding to move to the Mooresville area to be closer to Deb's family.
Dr. Tillman and Deb share their home with their dog Grace (an Australian Shepherd), a crazy Papillon mix named Bob, and their two cats, Kelley and Callie.

Jenaleigh, RVT
Head Veterinary Technician

I started working at Village Animal Hospital back in January of 2002. My journey started here as an internship my senior year of high school. After that was complete and I graduated, Dr. M offered me a job working in the kennel. I went on to Gaston College where I graduated in 2006 with a Veterinary Technician degree. One part of my job that I enjoy the most is surgery and anesthetic monitoring.

I have recently gone back to school to obtain a business administration degree from Catawba Valley Community College. With this degree I hope that I can continue to be in management here at VAH as well as gain much needed knowledge of how to manage my own business. Also, within the past year I have started raising chickens for Tyson Foods. At any given time I could have over 54,000 chickens to tend to.

Daisy Overcash, RVT
Veterinary Technician

I came to Village Animal Hospital in 2007 and started working in the Kennels. After working here I decided working with animals is what I wanted to do. In 2008 I started attending the Veterinary Technology Program at Gaston College to become certified as a Veterinary Technician. After 2 years of training I became registered with the state of North Carolina. I truly enjoy coming to work every day and love having the ability to say I have the knowledge and training to help pets in time of need.

Some of my favorite areas here at Village Animal Hospital are Surgery and Kennels. I love assisting with surgery. I could help with surgeries all day if it was possible. Being able to induce anesthesia, monitor patients, blood draws, placing intravenous catheters and gloving in for assistance with surgery procedures are my favorite! Also I enjoy working in the kennels as well. This is where I started and I still love spending time working back in the kennels with all the pets that board with us. I still work on the weekends as a kennel personnel and love every bit of it. You really begin to bond with some of the boarders that come in on a regular basis!

Kara Hodgin
Veterinary Technician & Dog Trainer

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mount Ida College in Newton, Massachusetts with my degree in Veterinary Technology in 2000.
I worked for 8 years in a small animal and exotic animal practice in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. I then went to work nights at an emergency clinic for about a year before becoming the manager of the practice. I quickly became burnt out and after a very cold New England winter decided to move south. For several years I had come to visit a good friend in Mooresville and I love the area so elected to move here.
I am studying and logging hours to take my exam to become a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT). I am a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) and am an approved AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. I teach the Puppygarten Classes at VAH, do CGC Workshops and Testing, and have started doing more advanced training workshops at different locations around Mooresville.

Michelle
Receptionist

Hi! My name is Michelle and I started working here at Village Animal Hospital in 2008. I was blessed to be a stay-at-home mom for 11 years and when I decided to go back to work, my love of animals steered me to look for a job at a veterinarian hospital. I love my job!
My family consists of a wonderful husband and two great boys, along with two furry boys—a Goldendoodle named Oliver and a three-legged rescue dog named Spots. My sons keep me busy with basketball, football and school. I enjoy every minute of it!
The love of water brought us to Lake Norman, moving from Ohio in 2003. Living here is wonderful, with the mountains or beach just a few hours away, this is where you will find me and my family… if we are not having fun on Lake Norman

Kelly
Receptionist & Kennel Technician

Kelly came to Village Animal Hospital for a change of pace from her cosmetology career and doing hair at "Shampoo 202" in Mooresville (something she does still do part-time). She is a 2005 Mooresville High School graduate and attended Pinnacle cosmetology school.
In her spare time Kelly enjoys going to the beach, fishing, shopping, and spending time with her friends and family. She has two mixed breed dogs, Pebbles and Bam-Bam; a Yorkie-Poo named Macy, and a Labrador Retriever named Colt.

Andrea
Receptionist & Veterinary Assistant

Hello. My name is Andrea. My family and I recently relocated to Mooresville from Rapid City, South Dakota. I am the mother of three beautiful children, one of whom will be graduating from Mooresville High this year. Together we enjoy the beach, hiking, snow boarding and traveling. We enjoy our summers at the Outer Banks and will be looking forward to our family reunion in Duck this year. My furry family consists of an Irish Wolfhound, a Great Dane and a “Lucy”.
I have been a Tech Assistant for 11 years. I attended classes at National American University in 1998. My experiences have been with large, small and exotic animals. This has given me the opportunity to be involved with some very interesting cases. Kangaroo’s, Wallaby’s, Bear, Mount Lions, Bear, Fox and an array of reptiles just to name a few. I have been a part of the Village Animal Hospital team since April of this year and have met some wonderful caring people.
I am currently taking online classes for a degree in Business Management/Marketing. I plan to continue my career in the field of Veterinary medicine upon graduation.

Angel Fayne
Kennel Assistant

I am the kennel assistant at Village Animal Hospital. I was a volunteer during the summer of 2010 and became an intern during my senior year of high school. I was hired as part time kennel staff during my senior year of high school and after graduating became a full time employee. I graduated from First Assembly Christian High school in 2011. I am currently not attending school and look forward to beginning my online classes to receive my degree in veterinarian technology. I love working with animals it is something I enjoy and something I have wanted since I was a little girl. Besides my goal of receiving my degree as a veterinary technician I would also like to become a wife and a mother and live on my own in the near future. I look up to the women that work at Village Animal Hospital and hope to accomplish the same as they have one day. Along with my love for animals I also love to hunt, fish, spend time outdoors, draw, dance, and spend time with my boyfriend as well as being around my friends and family. I have three dogs, a Beagle named Zack, a Dachshund named Slinky and a Chihuahua Dachshund mix named Peanut, a rabbit named Dimples, a dove named Tinker Bell and a Chicken named Alice.
